Blink Cincinnati Drone Photography

One of our most challenging projects this year was providing drone aerial imaging of the first-ever Blink Cincinnati Event. This four-day light and art festival stretched 20 city blocks and was estimated to have drawn over 1 million people to Downtown and Over-the-Rhine to gawk at spectacularly colorful art designs projected on buildings along with other illuminated displays. That makes it bigger than Riverfest, Oktoberfest and Taste of Cincinnati, according to the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber.

Perfect Perspectives partnered with the creatives at RESLV to capture the event from a very unique point of view using its state of the art drone fleet. With so many people in attendance, significant scouting and planning was required to make certain the flights could be conducted within FAA regulations and specifically our Part 107 Daylight Operations Waiver that is required to fly at night. There were lots of angles we would have loved to have captured but we were unable to find a way to do so that would clearly satisfy FAA requirements to not fly directly over the public or moving vehicles. We completed an extensive risk assessment at each location and in several areas we simply had to say no-go. Nonetheless the images that were captured were all quite spectacular and we look forward to the return of this great Cincinnati event soon!
